What is the Veterans in Crisis (VIC) Grant?
The Veterans in Crisis (VIC) Grant is designed to offer one-time financial assistance to veterans and military personnel encountering legitimate financial crises. Whether it’s related to housing, transportation, medical expenses, utilities, or groceries, the VIC Grant aims to provide a helping hand during times of need.
Areas of Assistance
The VIC Grant covers several essential areas:
Medication/Treatment
Support with copays and insurance payments for necessary medications and treatments.
Housing
Assistance with rental payments, mortgage, security deposits, and related expenses.
Transportation
Aid with car payments, fuel costs, and car repairs to ensure mobility.
Utilities
Help with essential utility bills such as electricity, water, and gas.
Groceries
Assistance in purchasing groceries to meet basic nutritional needs.
Application Process
To apply for the VIC Grant, follow these steps:
Fill out pages 1 and 3 of the VIC application form. Ensure all necessary information is provided accurately.
Include relevant documentation such as utility bills, lease agreements, mortgage statements, etc., to support your application.
Page 2 of the application must be completed by a verifying authority who can confirm your military service. Examples of verifying authorities include Veteran's Service Officers, TN National Guard Military and Family Readiness Specialists, Veteran Organization Officers, VA Social Workers, among others.
Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. You can expect to receive a determination within 72 hours of submission. If you have any questions or require assistance with the application process, please contact Megan at 731-988-8908.
